''Throat punching country rock." That's how The Vanishers, a Burlington based rockabilly 5-piece, describe their infectious brand of toe-tapping rock and roll. Paul Pengelly(vocals), Gary Kuiper(guitar/vocals), Paul McGrath(guitar/vocals), Darrel Lascelles(bass) and Brian Kuiper(drums) make up this full sounding rock and roll train ride. The boys are currently pushing their debut release, "The Biggest Hand". Recorded in early 2009 and released in the summer, the album blasts out 12 powerful tracks mixing country, rock and rockabilly into a melodic, danceable hoe-down. From the first track, "4 AM", you will find yourself unable to keep your feet still. "Ontario's next big thing" state John & Amber of Shakin Katz Radio out of London, Ontario. The band believes this to be true. The album has been tracking across the country on college stations, getting rotation in cities like Lethbridge, Sudbury, London, Toronto, Hamilton and Windsor to name a few. Stocked with their own graphic design and video crews, they have been pushing their stellar merchandise line at shows as well as promoting their videos online. Be sure to visit their myspace page to watch the videos for "4 AM" and "Kiss" as well as the V-Tel ad for "The Biggest Hand". Trucking forward into the country/rock scene is in the forefront of the band's plans. Having hooked up recently with a publicist, they are looking to get their name, and more importantly, their music, out to as many people as possible. Stay tuned for more recordings to pop up on their myspace page and keep an eye out for the guys pumping their brand of raucous fun into your neighbourhood soon. |
